Theme

Make it Matter.
Explore. Empower. Exchange.

The cocoa and chocolate industry is thriving... with a popular product, stable growth rates, bright perspectives for the future and plenty of fields for innovation. At the same time, it is an industry with a complex, highly fragmented and challenging supply chain. One challenge is that sales and revenues are growing at the end of the supply chain; but cocoa farmers who are at the beginning of the supply chain do not yet equally benefit from the value creation. How can the transformation of cocoa farming lead to a prosperous future for cocoa communities while generating the higher yields needed to keep pace with growing chocolate consumption?
At the same time, expectations of consumers are mounting: they do not only want safe products.

They also want to know where their food comes from, how it has been produced and what’s inside... Today’s consumers want to make a difference. Food equals health. Clear communication and transparent labeling will be essential to maintaining consumer confidence. How do we engage the digital consumer in the new connected world?
In brief: Transparency, traceability and a more sustainable and equitable value chain have become crucial for today’s consumers… for the way we are doing business and the long-term success of our industry. Companies will need to demonstrate that they are part of the solution and can have a positive impact.
We will be judged by our actions, and not by our words. Thus the motto of CHOCOVISION 2016: Make it Matter.
